Sage FAS 100 and Sage FAS 500 Asset Accounting
New version release of v2008.2
We are all very excited about several major reporting enhancements along with important legislative updates in the latest version of Sage FAS v2008.2!
The following new or updated features are included in this release:
- New Assets Snapshot: Now get an easy, at-a-glance graphical summary of your important fixed asset information - similar to what's been available in the Sage FAS CIP Accounting solution since v2.0! This exciting new feature, available in FAS 100 Asset Accounting and FAS 500 Asset Accounting, gives you instant command over your fixed assets!
- Expanded FAS Report Write Capabilities: FAS Report Writer is now powered by Crystal Reports® XI! FAS Report Writer still offers the same ability to customize built-in Standard reports, but now you can use even more features when creating reports directly in Crystal Reports. Crystal Reports XI offers many new and updated features, such as run-time input parameters, a formula workshop, support for multiple data sources in a single report, charts and graphs, and much more!
Note that with the upgrade to Crystal Reports XI, FAS Report Writer is now delivered on two additional CDs, separate from the Sage FAS product installation CD.
- New Form 4562-FY: To reflect the new 50-percent special depreciation allowance enacted in the Economic Stimulus Act of 2008, the IRS released a new version of the depreciation and amortization form for fiscal year filers. Form 4562-FY replaces Form 4562 for tax years beginning in 2007 and ending in 2008.
Also included in 2008.2 are the changes provided in the 2008.1.1 Service Update for both FAS Asset Accounting and FAS Canada Asset Accounting. These changes incorporate the provisions of the Economic Stimulus Act of 2008 relating to fixed assets.

If you are using the General Ledger FAS Depreciation Posting link or the Accounts Payable FAS Asset Creation link, you must install the most recent MAS Service Update (released in August 2008) for the links to continue working with Sage FAS 2008.2. The service update, which is available for download on the MAS Support site, can be installed before or after installing the Sage FAS 2008.2 update. Please call the Sage FAS Customer Support number 800-331-8514 if you have questions or experience any difficulties accessing the MAS Support site.

If you are using the General Ledger FAS Depreciation Posting link or the Accounts Payable FAS Asset Creation link, these links will no longer function if you install Sage FAS 2008.2. Service packs addressing these issues are not available at this time for Sage MAS 90 or Sage MAS 200 versions 4.10, 4.05, 4.00, or 3.71. You have several options:
